History of International Baptist Church

God has done amazing things in the islands of Hawaii. From the native Hawaiians' conversion in the 19th century to today's growing Christian community, He has touched many lives of the 1.1 million people living in Hawaii living in this paradise. Christians in Hawaii are working to spread God's word and faith in his Son, Jesus Christ.

With God’s provision International Baptist Church was founded by Dr. James R.Cook in 1966. Later with Dr. Cook’s vision and leadership, International College & Graduate School was started. God blessed us with this special location 1.5 miles north of the H-1 Interstate on the beautiful Pali Highway (20 Dowsett Avenue, Honolulu). Our second pastor, Dr. Dick Lindeman, expanded the church building with a three-story education wing.

God sent our third pastor, Rev. David L. Wiitala, in 1994.  I.B.C. has been led by pastors who love and preach the Word of God. We welcome all to join us in our worship of God and his son, Jesus Christ.

A new day is beginning at International Baptist Church, with Dr. Stanley R. Ponz.  He and his wife, Carol, come with a full array of ministry experience from across our beautiful country.  Pastor Stan has had a heart for the people of Hawaii since he was a young lad.  He and Carol have been invited to speak in many Hawaii churches since 1976.  Because of this couple, many in our islands have come to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.

Dr. Stan Ponz, Senior Pastor
